Men's Diving Watches Review: Panerai Luminor Submersible PAM025

Panerai Luminor Submersible PAM00025 is an automatic using the Panerai OP III caliber, which is of Valijoux 7750-P1 caliber base. It has 13 ¼ lignes and 21 jewels. Balanced at a frequency of 28,800vph by monometallic Glucydur balance, this piece has Incabloc shock abosorber system with 42 hour autonomy and personalized bridges and rotor. The chronometer is COSC certified. The functions include hour, minute, seconds and date.

The three-piece titanium case comes in carre galbe shape with a diameter of 44mm, and a thickness of 16mm. It comes brushed with 3.5mm thick curved sapphire crystal. It is antireflective with a magnifying glass at 3 for the date.

It has counter clockwise turning ring with graduated scale represented by small recessed cylinders and engraved minute track.

The crown is waterproofed with a patented system consisting of a bridge, which is fastened in the middle by two screws. There is a unique lever pressing the crown against a waterproofing gasket on the screw-on back. It is water resistant to 30 meters.

The black Clous de Paris dial has its subdial decorated with circular beads. The indications include date at 3 with small seconds at 9. It has luminescent embossed round markers and Arabic numerals.

This is accompanied with skeletonized luminescent steel baton hands. The rubber strap has attachment with pivots closed by screws, along with a titanium clasp. A Velcro strap is included in addition for this piece.

Men's Watches Guide: IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar

Portuguese Perpetual Calendar is an automatic winding mechanical using the IWC Caliber 50611 with 7-day autonomy and power reserve. It is hand finished with 66 jewels and runs at 18,800 vph.

The rotor comes in yellow gold with the "Probus Scafusia" seal. The functions include hour, minute, small seconds and perpetual calendar which features date, day, month, year and moonphase.

The three piece 18K pink-gold or yellow-gold, or platinum (limited to 250 pieces) case comes with a diameter of 44.2mm at a thickness of 15.75mm.

With curved sapphire crystal and a pink-gold-plated crown, the back is fastened by 6 screws displaying the movement via a sapphire crystal. It is water resistant to 3atm (30m).

Taking cue from the 18k pink gold with black dial, it is equipped with power reserve sector argente and the subdials are decorated with circular beads and embossed with dore Arabic numerals along with hollowed minute track.

All these are rhodium-plated and come with pink-gold leaf-style hands. The indications are as follows: the date and power reserve sits at 3, with the month at 8.

The 4-digit year lies between 7 and 8 with small seconds and day at 9. The moonphase which is of the Northern and Southern Hemisphere sits at 12.

It has hand-stitched crocodile leather strap with double fold-over clasp finished in matching metal. There are also yellow gold with silvered dial or in platinum with silvered dial, and is limited to 250 pieces.

Breitling Aeromarine Avenger Seawolf is mens diving watch made of brushed titanium case. Its diameter is 44mm and thickness of 18mm. It uses curved sapphire crystal that has anti-reflective on both sides.

Its bezel can be turned uni-directionally in anti-clockwise. There is a luminescent dotted marker and there are 4-fasterners at each quarter. It also has engraving of graduated scales on the bezel.

Located at 10, there is a decompression valve for helium escapement during ascent to the water surface. It uses a over-sized screw-down crown positioned at 3 with case protection and double seal. The caseback is screwed on and has a Breitling embossed logo. Its water resistance capability is up to 3000m.

This diving watch has an automatic movement running on Breitling's 17 caliber made by ETA. It has 25 jewels and is also a COSC-certified chronometer. On its dial (comes in black, gray, blue, or yellow), it has Arabic numerals and luminescent dots.

For the yellow dial version, both the Arabic numerals and its luminescent baton hands are black. The other types of dial colors are all with silvered numerals and luminescent baton hands. There is a date display positioned at 3 with a 1/100 scaling at its flange.

It comes in either the brushed titanium Professional bracelet with an extendable fold-over safety device buckle, or straps with a choice of Diver Pro or leather.

A Look At Different Types of Watches And Their Characteristics

The modern gadget known to many of us simply as a wrist watch gets its humble beginnings in the 15th century when it was called a pocket watch. Back in those days they were mostly owned by wealthy individuals, mainly men. The pocket-watches used to be carried in pockets and attached by a small chain to the men's coats in order to prevent them from being dropped and damaged. These days, pocket-watches are mainly bought as collector items.

Wristwatches started to become popular in the 20th century, earlier in the century men still dominated wrist watch purchases but that changed over time as more manufactures started producing women's versions. Wristwatches were secured to the wrist with a variety of straps and bracelets including various metals, leathers, plastics and rubbers.

Modern day wristwatches have come a long way from their humble beginnings and there are many different types of timepieces currently available. The classic watches were mechanical, meaning they had to be manually wound by hand after a certain number of hours. The next generation of timepieces were call automatic watches, they functioned the same as mechanical versions, however, they did not need to be manually wound, instead they were automatically wound by the motion of the wrist, hence the name. Mechanical and automatic timepieces are still manufactured and sold and many of the true watch collectors only buy these types of watches.

The next big leap in timepieces came in the 1970's with the introduction of the quartz movements, which drove a lot of the traditional watch makers out of business. The quartz timepieces were powered by a small battery placed within the movement, the electricity provided by the battery got converted via a quartz crystal to power the watch. The quartz watches were extremely accurate compared to their automatic and mechanical counterparts. They did not require any maintenance and only required a battery change every few years, which is the reason they became so popular.

The next evolution in the watch industry was quartz timepieces that had a rechargeable battery. These watches were supposed to take the industry by storm; however, not too many manufacturers used the new technology. The technology is starting to slowly catch on. One of the iteration of the technology is a solar powered quartz watch, which uses the energy from the sun to charge the battery. The other way this technology was used was by mixing quartz and automatic. The watch still used a battery but it was charged by the movement of the wrist. Both of these types of watches have all the same features as quartz watches.

What does the future hold for wrist watches, many people believe watches are dead since we have so many other gadgets that perform the same function. There is still a healthy market for watches as can be seen by the increasing number of watch manufacturers.
