Not with this peel!). It will allow you to pick up sheet cakes, and other fragile baked goods successfully when they are done. This is the only way I have found to get REALLY THIN pizza from the peel to the oven successfully, without wrinkles or folds( and I use really wet dough ). But it didn't at first.....The board arrives in a fairly rough, unsanded/unpolished condition. As it was, it was actually VERY difficult to slide the conveyor belt back and forth when a pizza was on it, even with a lot of flour underneath the belt. It was no-where near as easy looking as the videos online make it seem to be, But, in the packaging was a note that mentioned you could sand and polish the wood to make it look better, and I assume work better too. So I took some rough emery cloth and really sanded down the slot in the wood to a smooth finish, then finish sanded the entire board- including the slot and the tip, and to top it off I polished the entire thing with a polishing wheel and some wood rouge. After I got the entire board about as smooth and shiny as I could for soft pine, I tried the peel again with a pizza this evening.... and oh baby, it was easy and smooth as could be! (I've already used the cloth as a 'couche' for some baguettes and rolls) And, yes, I can now whip the pizza dough in and out of the oven (and grill) without the nervous feeling that I used to get.
